Former Governors, they're just like us!

This morning I did a very long run, so I saw a lot of things. The first was while I was heading east from riverside park towards central park. As I ran on 95th street I suddenly noticed it was snowing...hard. I was confused for half a second until I looked up and realized I was running through a HUGE cloud of smoke. I looked up even higher to see flames billowing out of the windows of an apartment building on amsterdam avenue. Woah, this is a huge fire, I thought to myself. I could see in one of the windows and watched for a second until I realized that somehow I'd gotten past the police barricades by accident, and was not only standing right in front of the building, but I was blocking the FDNY from puting out the flames and my legs were getting totally hosed down by a fire hydrant. There was so much smoke and ashes that I could still smell and see them when I was entering the park three blocks away. The smokey smell lingered much longer.

I saw the fire on the news when I got to work, but I already was with a client so I couldn't pay attention. I hope everyone is safe.

Then, while I was finishing my first loop in the park, I started thinking about how maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to stop at one loop. I'm tired, I thought, and I'd like to eat breakfast. Maybe I'll stop at 15 or 16 miles. Just then I saw him. The luv gov himself. Mr. Elliot Spitzer out for a morning jog just like me. That's when I knew I had to do the full 20 miles. Because if Elliot Spitzer can get up, brush himself off and go running in a city that laughs at him after resigning from office due to a high class prostie scandal, then I can do that too....minus the prosties, and pretty much everything else. So I did! It was a good run and an even more interesting morning!

I know what you mean. I can't tell you how many times, when I was lacking a little motivation for working out, that I hoped I could encounter one of the players from a widely televised sex scandal, to give me that extra push.
