Friday night, we had a surprise baby shower for Mery at the salon. Mery is due in just a few weeks and I have to say, she is a freak of nature (nicely). She is a tiny dominican woman and is only 5'1''. Poor Mery gained weight very quickly and looked full term at just 3 months. I had never seen anything like this. Everyone thought she was having twins or was due any day (back in march!!!). Well, she literally has not gained ONE POUND since then. Those are the facts. Not a pound since she was three months along. She looks amazing. Plus, everyone thinks it is her first child because she doesn't look a day over 25, but she has a 15 year old daughter.

Mery is hilarious and always makes us laugh our socks off. When she found out she was pregnant, she immediately told me she was praying for a boy, because since her boyfriend is black, she doesn't want any girls with kinky hair. Of course, that is the stylist in her, worrying about having to blow out her unborn daughter's course, resistant curls several years before it will ever be an issue.

Well, this is our happy little family at the salon. We are missing Anneta, Ilana and a new stylist that I haven't met. I'm not going to list their names in the picture because there aren't really straight rows and I doubt any of you care. All I know is that I love this salon and the people I work with. It has been almost a year since I had my audition there and I can't believe how fast it has gone. My boss, fellow stylists and assistants have shown a lot of support and friendship throughout this experience I call parenting and I have really needed it. Thanks crazies.
