Tap water is so 10 years ago.

When did tap water suddenly become poisonous? I understand the convenience of bottled water, but it has really become a problem that I worry about sometimes. Millions of dollars are spent a year on bottled water, something that is 100% free from a tap. and worse, the millions and millions of plastic bottles being thrown away is just mind blowingly wasteful.

The reason I'm bringing this up, is because a few people at work think it's gross that I refill my water bottles with tap water. I DO buy bottled water, but I refill every last one of them several times. It's just much more convenient to have a resealable bottle on the subway as opposed to carrying around a glass of water (which would be ridic!!). I know people who will ONLY drink Evian, Perrier or Smart water and, to me, that is just conpletely sill. Remember being a kid for a second...I drank from a hose, a creek, bathroom sink and any/every public drinking fountain I could get my parched mits on.

If any of you think tap water is gross, then sorry for offending you. I really don't mean to preach, I'm just trying to promote tap-water-is-just-as-delicious awareness. I just read that NYC is #1 for tap water taste in the state of New York! I'm sold! I guess maybe I'm uncool because I can't tell the difference in ice cold tap water and ice cold fiji water. But I'm totally glad because I will never go thirsty.

Agreed. The gas spent on trucks distributing bottled water to stores is also an adverse impact. It IS awfully convenient to be able to grab a bottle of water out of the fridge and go, tho.

When we moved to NY I told Rob that the tap water was supposed to be great here but he had just read an article on how they can't filter medications out of the water. Meaning we are drinking birth control meds, psychiatric drugs, etc.. in the tap water. He was pretty freaked out about it and we've used a water cooler in the house ever since. I don't buy many bottles of water because we have bottles to take with us.

Actually, i saw this documentary that tap water is WAY better for you than bottled water. Tap water is filtered and carries more restrictions than bottled water.
If they bottle Evian straight from the source, it probably contains mountain lion pee. :D
