Has this weather been something to write home about or what? I've pretty much been freaking out.
As I have written, Jake and I are training for a marathon which will take place the second week of October, and we really couldn't have picked a better time to train. It has been glorious. I mean, you can actually go outside! WithOUT looking like you took a sweatie shower. If you've ever spent a summer in NY, you know the heat I'm speaking of. If you haven't, just imagine climbing into a humid oven. k?
So, Saturday was our 12 mile run, which went great. BUT having it be the last weekend of the summer streets festival (closing off Park Avenue for bikers, runners, walkers) which I had to miss the first two weeks of for work, we absolutely had to take advantage. I'm so glad we did. Even though we biked all the way to Brooklyn and over 30 miles....after running 12.....it was really just the best day. I was very tuckered out afterwords.
It started out great. Running in Central Park on a Saturday is so cool. I love living in a city with such active people. There are already hundreds of people out running and biking before it is even really light yet! It is by far my favorite run in Manhattan. I could never get sick of it.
Then the biking was just amazing. I felt so free and alive. Like a kite, or something. We met up with the Carters for lunch and one of Jake's friends from work for part of the ride. We were also able to check out a few of the new man-made waterfalls, which I have been wanting to do since they are shutting them off soon (due to the effect they are having on surrounding foliage). I wish they did this summer streets business more often. Something to think about, Bloomberg, if you read my blob. Also, can we have more bike paths? And some money?
I am so excited for fall. I bought a pair of boots today to back it up. Also, my new fall colored duvet cover came today. I love fall so much. The only reason I'm not going to say "I can't wait for fall" is that I CAN wait for it. Because as much as I love fall, it means winter is just around the corner nipping falls pleasant heels. And even though "nip" is such a cute word, winter my friends, can wait.
