Piper drinking milky coffee.

Piper Jane, giving us a killer thumbs up

She wont exactly be drinking coffee, but she will be getting caffeine. Piper's heart rate has been slowing down significantly while she is asleep and they have decided it is something to start paying attention to. Anytime her heart rate drops below 100, which is called bradying, her machines beep. She gets so relaxed that it starts to affect her breathing even more, usually by skipping breaths. Everyone's heart rate slows down when they are sleeping, but hers drops down to the 60's and 70's, so it is a little concerning to the doctors. They are pretty sure that the caffeine will solve the problem, however. We are excited to see Piper hyper.

As for mentioning the milk department, they are planning on upping her calcium intake. Since she has been at Children's Specialized, they have found in her xrays that her right clavicle and left scapula (as well as several ribs which we already knew about) aren't fully developed. In fact, they are still pretty much cartilege. So, by giving her more calcium, they are hoping it will develope quicker and strengthen quite a bit. This, to me, is super interesting. It is just so awesome that we have the opportunity to have so many brilliant doctors who notice new discoveries and figure out new solutions with our little Pip-Squeak.

We were able to sit in on two of Pippy's OT appointments and are extremely proud and impressed with her improvements. She has been working so hard and has been super patient with everyone who make her do all these tricks and exercises. It's so cute to watch in on this and it makes us thankful for her growth. I think about her primary nurses, Fran and Kaitlin from the NICU, and wish they could see her now. I'm not even sure they would believe how far she has come. Especially considering the set backs she has had since she has left the NICU.

Anyway, we are leaving in the morning for Puerto Rico. I am so excited that I dont even think I'll be able to sleep tonight. Me and Jake decided we are going to have a special sleep over since our flight leaves so early, but that really isn't different from every other night, since we live together and are married. It just sounds like a really fun idea. Also, if anyone is interested, I order two swimming suit tops online that will match solid black bottoms. I got nervous that they hadn't come in three weeks, so I called the place. Well, since they should have gotten here so much earlier, they overnighted two new ones and they both came within a day of eachother. So I have 4. If any of you have the same chest size as me and a Skipper doll, and want two new swimming suit tops, you are more than welcome to them. There is a black and white gingham bandeau and a black, white and yellow victorian printed bandeau.

Bye! Dont be jealous of our trip!
