This will be quick

It was a hectic day. Thanks sooooo much to Tamara for coming to the hospital with me this morning. I was completely overwhelmed having to do all the discharge/admitting stuff alone since Jake had an early closing, so it was nice to have someone to hang out with for the hour and a half before we left for New Brunswick. Piper cooperated pretty well, after they changed her trach that is. I think this was partly because her favorite transporter, Patrick, was there again today. She was in good hands. She again loved the ride so much and decided to play with her hands the whole drive. There was a lot of construction and detours on the way making a bumpy, but exciting trip for her.
When we got there, we did the usual get settled business. I loved the way this hospital handled things though. Once we got her in her bed I was fearful of what would happen next, (knowing what Blythedale did) but they told me they would weigh her, then leave her alone. Really? Awesome. Routinely, the therapists wait a day to meet her, just to give her the chance to get comfortable with her new home without super duper stimulation over-drive. I was so happy to hear that. Doctor Burke came over to meet her and this was the best part of the day. She spoke in the most gentle, calm and loving voice as she rubbed Pip's head. Wow, a doctor who cares about Pippy's stress level. They even asked how she liked to be calmed down and what her favorite toys were. It was awesome. It's almost like Piper has a say for once in what they do. There really is something about the nurses in New Jersey. They breed them for it.
Anyway, it was a super long day. Meeting a mill' peeps, signing a mill' papes, riding a mill' trains and kissing my sweet New Yorker turned Jerseyan baby goodbye till Friday. I felt pretty good about that place though, even the machines beeps are more pleasant than Blythedale.

That is all great news, we are so happy to hear that everything went well with the move, It sounds like piper is off to a great start in the new place. It's good to hear that Mom feels good about it too- that's huge.

I agree with the outlaw. I'm glad about the positive vibes radiating from the center. Our sweet Piper girl is in our prayers.

Is Pip going to start talking like a thug, teasing her hair, and listening to Bruce?
