Piper has had a bit of a crazy
week. She has regressed to the LMA for assisting her breathing. The LMA is a
laryngial mask, the same one that she had for the first couple days after
she was born. She also has a new haircut. Her doctors decided that she
needed to have a PICC line again. Which is a intravenous catheter which
eliminates the need for her to be pricked in a new spot every day for a new
IV site. The doctors were not successful at inserting the PICC line in her
arms or legs, so they tried her head. Eventually they gave up and tried
again the next day, when they were able to successfully insert it into her
arm. So, no tubes in her scalp (yay!). She was able to start getting milk
again as of August 12th. So we really hope that she will be able to put on a
little weight again. She actually broke the 5 pound threshold this last
week. It is pretty amazing, given the amount of calories that she has been
burning just trying to breathe. |
