Cute as ever, and breathing a little easier

After much deliberation, it was determined that Piper would be better off
with a temporary
tracheostomy. She was pretty mellow all day, the day of the surgery. She
was scheduled to go in at 10:30, but ended up going in about 4 hours later.
It took a little longer than they had supposed also. Part of the reason is
because she is still so small. Her neck is still so small the the Surgeon
actually had to pull the trachea up a little bit to make it work. He told us
that he was really happy with it though, and that he was able to position it
exactly where he wanted it. Hopefully now Piper can breathe a little easier
and focus on putting on weight instead of fighting the tubes in her mouth
and nose. |
