January 3, 2008

Wow, 2008 already. It definitely feels like winter today too. I went out to move the car today and by the time I got in, I barely had enough coordination to turn the key. As usual thing have been action packed for us here in the Heights. Starting with the week before Christmas, Reagan's dad and brother came to visit. They hadn't had a chance to meet Piper yet. They flew in on Saturday night, so we spent the whole afternoon at Blythedale visiting Piper on Sunday. I had to work that the next day, but the rest of the gang went up to visit Piper that day too. I guess that the nurses were being kind of weird that day, not letting anyone hold Piper etc. Apparently, she had a pretty rough night before that. Anyway, Tuesday Reagan and our visitors were on the train coming down to have lunch with me, when I got a call from Piper's Dr. at Blythedale, saying that Piper was not doing well and would be coming back to Columbia hospital that afternoon. So Reagan went straight back up town to the hospital as soon as we finished lunch.

I ended up leaving work early to go see her also. I don't think that any of us were expecting the site that we walked into at the hospital. Piper did not look good at all. I talked Reagan into having a break and taking her dad and brother home for dinner. I stayed at the hospital for a couple of more hours, but they really didn't have many answers for us. At first they thought that she had pneumonia, but they were treating her for just about everything. They were giving her a paralytic so that she would be totally still and calm through all of it.

Luckily, she was well on her way back to normal after about 2 days. We were able to have Christmas with her in her own private room. Currently, she is still there. The doctors want to take an MRI before they send her back to Blythedale. It has actually been very nice to have her so close again.

Now for some not-Piper news. Reagan and I got a new car for Christmas. It probably doesn't seem like it makes much sense, given where we live. But When we found out the Piper was going to be at Blythedale for a while. We decided that it was a good idea to get something a little bigger, to haul her stuff around. Also, Pepe was 10 years old and becoming less reliable in her old age. If Reagan was going to be driving to Westchester alone for visits on the nights that I had to work late, then we figured that she should have something that wouldn't crap out and leave her stranded. We got a Toyota FJ. We really like it so far. It was definitely nice to be able to pick up Joe and Jesse from the airport and have some room to put their luggage in the back. We are hoping that it will also motivate us to get out of town a little more on the weekends.

Christmas was really cool. On Christmas Eve, Reagan and I had dinner at Carmines with some of our friends from church. Then we hung out at our place and watched movies. Christmas morning, Reagan was a little bummed out that I wanted to sleep in, but overall, it was a really good day for us. For New Years, we got together with some of our friends at one of their houses. We hung out, ate, played games and watched football. It was perfect.

December 13, 2007

Awesome! So it has been over a month, since I last updated El Worldo. Sorry about that. November was really fun. We went to Boston and had turkey with the Truscotts. We also saw Taylor and Stacy, along with their new baby. He is megacute+fun. The week after Thanksgiving, we moved Piper to a new facility in Valhalla, which is located in Westchester county. It is a bit of a hike from where we live now. We have really been spoiled, being able to just walk downtown 15 blocks to see her. The day that we moved her in was a total roller coaster. Reagan and I got to the hospital early. One of her nurses that wasn't even working that day, came in to see Piper off. All of the other nurses came by to bid farewell also. She is a popular little squirt. Anyway, Reagan rode in the ambulance and I followed in Pepe. When we got there, the chaos started. While they were transitioning Piper into her new crib from the portable isolette, we were filling out paper work. When we came back into the room, piper was stripped down and flipping out. Not exactly what we wanted to see. Thankfully, she has settled in now and seems to be doing well. The Truscotts actually came down to visit us here her first weekend at Blythedale (the new hospital). It was really cool to have them there.

Since we are going to be doing the commute to see Piper for the next little while, we decided that it would be a good idea to have a newer more reliable car. Not that Pepe wasn't the coolest car ever. She was just getting a little bit fickle. Anyway, we sold her last week and we are getting a new FJ Cruiser (not even a slight relation to the PT cruiser) for Christmas. We pick it up on Saturday, if everything goes as planned.

This Saturday is also exciting for us because Reagan's dad and younger brother are coming to visit us. It will be the first time for both of them meeting Piper. We are still planning out the details, but for sure it will be loads of fun.

October 28, 2007

So I guess that it has been a while. I will try to summarize a the last month. The first week of October Reagan and I traveled out to Salt Lake for my cousin's wedding. It was cool because my brother Pete and his wife Kristin were visiting my parent's the same weekend. We were able to go to a football game with my dad and Pete and Kristin. My dad also took us flying in his new plane. It was a pretty fun trip.

When we got back on Thursday morning, I wasn't feeling too hot. I finished out the work week, but over the weekend I got really sick. I developed a fever of around 105 and all of my glands were swollen. Perfect timing for Reagan to be starting her new job and Piper to be having surgery. It was a pretty crazy week. Piper handled the surgery very well and Reagan loved her new job. Even after I wend to the doctor we weren't sure what was wrong with me, so I wasn't allowed to go the hospital. Finally Wednesday evening, I found a spider bite on the back of my leg. It was pretty nasty. I was so glad to finally know what was causing the illness though.

The next week was by birthday. We had dinner Friday night at Brother Jimmy's BBQ. It was pretty fun. A bunch of friends from church and law school showed up. Then my parents came to visit the next day. It was really cool because my dad hadn't been able to meet Piper yet. We had a really cool visit with them.

September 18, 2007

The weekend of the 8th, two of Reagan's friends came to visit. It was a lot of fun. We went to a Mets game and hung out with Piper a lot. Reagan's friend Christa, who came up from D.C. is interning for a Senator there. It was fun to hear her talk about the daily goings ons of her office and how her co-workers react to the current political hooplah. Last weekend we went to an exhibit at the Whitney. It was art from the summer of love. It was pretty cool. I think that my favorite part was the collection of posters, advertising live shows. Most all of it was interesting though. It is always fun to see how far social norms have been pushed in just a few decades. So much of the stuff produced by a group that was considered to be fringe and radical, would barely raise an eyebrow in today's society. I'm still not sure if that is bad or good. I'm sure that it is some of both.

Piper is still doing pretty good. She is growing again. Reagan and I talked to her new doctor yesterday (it changes every 3 weeks). She talked to us about the option of a transitional facility for Piper, until she and we have enough courage to bring her home. Of course this would not be for some time still. It is kind of frustrating, because there are still so many variables and unanswered questions, which would help us in making these decisions. Hopefully some of the answers will be come clear over the next couple of weeks. One thing is for sure. Reagan and I Looooovvvveee, hanging out with her. She is so much fun when she is awake and alert. You can tell that she is like a little sponge, just taking in everything that is in her field of vision. Anyway, here are some new pictures of her.

September 4, 2007

Our labor day ended up being pretty low key. We went out to Long Island on Saturday. We had a bunch of stuff planned. I wanted to take my car because we hadn't driven it, and the battery was dead. So we dropped off Reagan at a fabric store, then Keith and I went to the fish store. When we came out the car was still dead. Total bummer. We tried push starting it a couple of times. No good. So we called Bob to come jump it. Unfortunately, Reagan's phone battery was also dead. So she was pretty upset when we finally showed up to pick her up so much later. We ended up just barbequing on the Foreman, watching football and taking a nap. We ended up going home early. Reagan's sister was in town this weekend though. It was good timing too, because Piper was as cute as ever. We spent a lot of time with her Sunday. Reagan and Jody hung out with her for a long time Monday, and I worked :(. It's ok though. I'm glad to be back on some big deals. Much better than digging through my desk looking for things to fill the hours.

August 27, 2007

So, here it is, the end of the month... again. I have been really bad a blogging lately. I don't really even have the excuse about being busy, which has been a legitimate one in the past. I guess that I have just been trying to put it off until there is some really good news to put up.

So, there is some big news, not necessarily good or bad though. A week ago Friday Reagan and I met with Piper's doctor and two surgeons. We decided together that Piper needed a tracheostomy (also called a tracheotomy). Piper's doctors and surgeon refer to it as a tracheostomy though, so that is the one I'm going with. Anyway, they were able to schedule her for last Thursday. The surgery took a little longer than they had planned. Afterward the surgeon told us that it was one of the more difficult ones that he had performed. It was mostly due to Piper's petite stature.

When she came out of the surgery it was so amazing to see her without all the tubes taped onto and into her face. Even though she was a little puffy, it was just so crazy, how good she looked. We couldn't thank the surgeons enough for all of their hard work.

So far it has been a bit of a tug of war with Piper, since the surgery. She has had bad moments and good moments. We are hoping for a trend toward consistent good. Either way, she is so incredibly cute.

August 6, 2007

Wow, once again, it has been so long. There isn't an amazing amount of new stuff report. Reagan's mom came to visit a couple of weeks ago and bought her a sewing machine. Since then she has gone crazy sewing stuff for both her and Piper (nothing for me yet). She has really made some amazingly cute stuff. You can check out the pics on Piper's latest page.

We took at trip up to Rhode Island to visit Tadd and Julie. It was pretty cool. We got in some bodyboarding and good croquet. We had to cut the trip a little short though, because Piper wasn't doing too hot. Last weekend we went out to West Gilgo Beach, and were able to spend some time with our good friends the Rathgebers and Psilloses. We got in a little bit of surfing and beach lounging.

This weekend, Reagan was in Utah for her brother's wedding. It has been tough having her gone. We were both going to go, but we just didn't feel good about leaving Piper here alone. Then Sunday I came down with a really nasty cold, and I haven't really been able to see her much anyway. Totally sucks.

July 7, 2007

Holy moley, it's already July! I seriously can't even believe it. It totally doesn't feel like it in NYC. We have had a couple of hot days. Then again, we had a couple of hot days in December. It has been pleasant though. Reagan and I have been making it a point to get outside on the the weekends. Last weekend we skated on the bike path down to the 72nd street pier and went kayaking on the Hudson. It was really fun. I wanted to bring the camera on the kayak with us, but the guy at the dock talked me out of it.

After kayaking, we went back up to the riverside skate park and Reagan caught some rays while I tooled around for a bit. I was only able to skate for about 45 mins or so because one of the recaps came off of my kneepad.

Wednesday was the 4th of July. Normally I would complain about it being in the middle of the week, but it ended up being really good. Work has been so crazy lately, and Wednesday broke up the week nicely. Tuesday night a bunch of guys from church got together and had a Halo tournament at one of their houses. It was pretty fun, even though I had never played Halo before, or even used an X-box controller. While we were doing that, Reagan went out with all of her girlfriends for dinner. Then we got up early Wednesday morning and went hiking upstate with some of our friends. The trail was called breakneck ridge. Which I thought laughable, given it's location in Cold Spring NY. It really did end up being pretty cool though. There were some parts where I'm pretty sure that someone really could have broken their neck. Pretty impressive. Hahaha.

Piper has continued the same. She hasn't had any major setbacks lately, which is nice. She has also been putting on weight at a pretty constant schedule. She is currently 3 lbs. 13 oz. Last night Reagan and I held her for about an hour and a half. It is fun to go late at night because everything is so mellow in the NICU. All of the lights are off, everyone is laid back. No one is being paged over the intercom. I feel like it is just Reagy, Piper and I with the whole unit to ourselves.

We met with her doctors on Thursday. They didn't have any news that was super insightful. She is going to have a procedure to lengthen her jaw after she is in the 4 kilo range, which should be in about a month. It is hard coming to terms with the fact that she isn't going to be coming home any time soon and it just seems we keep finding reasons that she is going to stay longer. I am glad though, that she is in such good hands. I personally would probably have to be taken to the ER myself if she ever stopped breathing at home. I get so much anxiety even when she sets off her alarms in the hospital. I just can't even imagine what it would be like if anything bad ever happened to her.

I guess that is about it. Getting excited for the B-boys in 3 weeks. Peace.

June 27, 2007

Ok, so it has been almost all month. It is a lame excuse, but I really have been so incredibly busy. Piper has continued the tug of war between progress and scaring the crap out of us. Generally she has been making progress for about the last 2 weeks. She had a blood transfusion on Sunday night. That was very scary for me. I was told, however, that it is fairly common for premature babies. Aside from all of the baby excitement and my first father's day as a bona fide dad, work has had me strapped to my desk. I can't complain though. The last couple of deals that I have been staffed on have provided me with a lot of new experience, which is always welcome. I have felt really bad though, being away from home so much, and only being able to see Piper in the middle of the night. I am very excited for August though. The Beastie Boys are doing 2 shows here. One in Central Park and one in Brooklyn. Mike and Jeni are going to come out and go to the Brooklyn one with us. Reagan and I have tickets for both shows. I think that we are going to sell the Central Park ones though.

Reagan and I also had a fun little outing last Wednesday. It was the Chase corporate challenge. Which was a 5k race in Central Park. It was basically a desk jockey convention. I placed first for our firm's group. It was a beautiful evening to run in the park and get a cheesy new t-shirt, hahahah. Reagy and I are also gearing up for the 4th of July next week. I think that we are going to go hiking during the day with some friends, and go to a to a barbeque in the evening. The barbeque is downtown near the harbor on someone's roof. After the bbq we are hoping to watch fireworks over the harbor. I'm sure that I have left a lot of stuff out. That is what happens when I go so long without writing. I have been doing mini-blogs on Piper's albums though. So check them out to see her progress.

June 4, 2007

Well, it's back to work for me tomorrow. It will be kind of nice to have a routine again after the controlled chaos that has been going on around here for the past couple of weeks. I will really miss being able to spend as much time with Reagan and Piper though.

After my mom went home last week, we had Reagan's friend Deanna come stay with us until last Friday. It was really fun to have her here. She has a very similar personality to Reagan, which made her a very easy guest. The only thing that I felt bad about was that her first day here we spent dragging her all over Brooklyn. As some of you know, I lent out my car the week Piper was born and it was towed and impounded. I had too much going on Memorial Day weekend to even worry about it. So last Tuesday we went to take care of it. After walking around Brooklyn for 2 hours locating the Marshals office, the car wasn't even there. It took us another 20 minutes to get a cab to stop. It was a $35 cab ride to the Army impound lot in East New York. Finally 4 hours and $2k later, we were driving Pepe out of that joint. The wreckers managed to lose the skid plate and the lower bumper fringe, as well as damage the driver's door window mechanism. Over-all it was a successful trip though.

Piper was doing extremely well all week last week. She was making progress every day. At one point they even had her dressed in a little onesy. By the time Reagan's sisters came into town this weekend, Piper wasn't doing or looking as well. Saturday night she was having a lot of breathing fits, so they did another chest X-ray. It came back a bit hazy. They weren't, and still aren't sure if she just aspirated a little bit of her milk, or if she was starting to get an infection. as a precaution, they started her on antibiotics, which meant another IV. As a result, they have also started giving her breath again through the CPAP, to make it so that she isn't working so hard. She also developed a strange blister on her chest Saturday night. It had ruptured by this morning and they said that the culture came back normal. It is still tough to see her backsliding though, after making so much progress.

As if all of that wasn't enough to keep us busy, Reagan started bleeding from her incision on Saturday night. At first it was just a little bit. By the time that I started looking for the numbers to call, it was bleeding like crazy. I was seriously freaking out. After we couldn't get through to anyone at the hospital, I ran to go get the car and we took Reagan to the ER. Dude, I never want to go to another NYC ER on Saturday night again. It was the most insane experience. I won't bore you with the details. Use your imagination. Anyway, we went in at 12:30 and came home around 7 in the morning. It turned out to be ok. Reagan is doing fine now.

Thanks for the visits everyone. Jay and Christina, hopefully we will get to visit longer next time. Chris, sorry you didn't get to see Piper, hopefully she will be feeling better next time. Thanks a million to Reagan's amazing VTs and their diligent efforts to be readily available to help Reagan and Piper with anything. I am especially appreciative of that, now that I won't be around during the week.

Ttys.

May 28, 2007

Hello everybody. In case you missed out on all of the action, I'm a dad now. It has been a crazy trip already. Last weekend, Reagan was worried because she hadn't been feeling the baby move. This was quite alarming to her because she was normally a total wiggle worm, especially at night. I tried to tell her that it was probably nothing to worry about, and went to sleep. Reagan woke me up about 30 minutes later and told me that we were going to the hospital because she had called the doctor. I reluctantly gave up my parking spot and drove her down (we got a parking spot right in front of the hospital, yay). They admitted Reagan and put her on a monitor. We sat in a room all night long with the doctors monitoring her remotely. At about 4 in the morning they advised her to take a steroid treatment, in case for some reason the baby had to be delivered early. At this point we still just thought that we would be coming home pretty soon. Around 10 Sunday morning, they moved Reagan to different room with a more comfortable bed. At this point, I went home for a little cat nap. I went back over to the hospital a couple of hours later and hung out with Reagan all day. I spent most of the time solving a rubik's cube.

They had to keep Reagan overnight again so that they could give her the second round of the steroid treatment early Monday morning. I took the car back to LI Sunday night and stayed at Keith's house. We rode the train in on Monday together. I talked to Reagan briefly and was communicating with her mostly by text. She told me that they were going to do another ultrasound on her in the afternoon and that she was bored. Around 10 or so when I Reagan hadn't responded to a couple of texts, I was getting a little worried.

I got on a call around 11 and my other line started blinking almost right away. I decided to answer it. It was the nurse telling me that they were taking Reagan into a Cesarean Section at that moment. So I got off the other call and jumped in the elevator. I called my mom on the way to the train, who said that she would be getting on a flight as soon as she could.

When I got to the hospital, Reagan was already in the recovery room. She still hadn't seen the baby, but she had a paper with her little footprints on it. Later that day we were able to see Piper for a minute.

My mom flew in that night and we spent the whole week visiting the baby and Reagan, who have both been making some pretty impressive progress.

Reagan had a ton of visitors and a room full of flowers. She was able to come home on Friday morning, Just in time for our friends the Truscotts to come down from Boston to visit. We have had a really fun weekend watching the baby and hanging out with our friends. Thanks for everyone's support. More updates soon!

May 7, 2007

Wow, where to start?... Reagan and I have made a habit of packing our weekends entirely full lately. This last one was no exception. First of all some big news came on Friday. When Reagan was at the doctor for one of her routine ultrasound exams, the doctor determined that Sleeky isn't growing fast enough. This means that Reagan is going to have labor induced, at the latest, in the middle of June. In the meantime, she is going to have bi-weekly ultrasound examinations of sleeky, to determine when she needs to be born. This was very stressful/exciting news for us.

Saturday, we went out to Long Island, picked up the car and dropped off our over-night kits at Keith's house. We came back into Manhattan, had a quick band rehearsal at Chris' house, then rolled out to 169 Bar on the Lower East Side for our big Cinco de Mayo show. After we took all of our equipment in, we shot some pool and waited for ppl to show up while the other band played. We were very stoked about the size of the crowd that turned out. It was a total blast. Reagan was a total sport about being the only pregnant lady in the bar. She got some great pictures of us though. Thanks baby. I just felt bad that we had to ditch so quick after the set, so that we could race out to LI. We got to Westbury in time to hit PF Changs before they closed and headed over to KP's house for the night. Recently Reagan has been having a tough time sleeping at night because she is getting big enough, that it is hard for her to get comfy. Plus the pee factor.

Saturday night was no exception, hahaha. Reagy managed to keep me up practically all night with her constant adjusting and frequent potty breaks. This made for ideal morning energy before running a marathon, hahahaha. So that is part of my excuse for looking so awesome in the pictures before the race. The other part is my failure to cut my hair for several weeks. Anyway, it was freezing Sunday morning. I didn't even want to get out of the car when we got to the starting line. But I reluctantly did. Keith was nice enough to be a co-cheerleader and chauffeur with Reagan during the race. They came to one of the cheering stations and were waiting for me at the finish line. I finished in almost exactly 4.5 hours. I definitely didn't train enough, which I believe accounts for my injured left knee. This is a very convenient feature when one lives on the fifth floor of a building with no elevator. Anyway, I'm hoping that it will heal up nice in the next couple of days. Especially with the impending baby situation. And blah blah blah. Muah!

May 1, 2007

Wow, another month in the kitty. Reagan is back from her baby shower tour. She brought back enough swag that she had to borrow an extra suitcase to come back. After that she still had enough that her mom had to ship  boxes to us. It sounds like Sleeky is going to be hooked up. Reagan got back last Tuesday night. I left work early so that I could be here to carry her bags up the stairs. Then I had jury duty for the rest of the week. It was so nice getting home so early every day and being able to hang out with Reag in the evenings. Last weekend we went kind of nuts at Ikea. We bought a ton of new furniture. Our place really came together though when we got all the new stuff put together. We also got Sleeky's room all cleared out, so that there will be room for her bed and stuff. Reagan has already put all of Sleeky's new little clothes in the wardrobe that we got for her. Last Saturday night our band played in a studio. It was really fun. We wanted to be able to play at full volume so that we could have a sample of what it will be like at our lil Cinco de Mayo gig this weekend. I have to admit that it is kind of poor timing for a show though, since I will be running a marathon the next day. I hope that I can get up in time to start the race with everyone else. I guess that I could always go late and just run really fast to catch up. Hahaha. Anyway, I guess that is about it for now. Latah.

April 16, 2007

Aloha, once again. Reagan is out of town this week. So I'm flying solo since Friday. So far the only things that I have managed to get done while she has been gone, are marathon length band practice and making some very delicious turkey sandwiches. I am supposed to be doing things like organize the closet and research baby names. But I feel like I can probably get that stuff done this coming weekend. I wasn't super motivated Sunday because it was a freaking monsoon all day, plus I wasn't feeling too hot from the outset. Apparently Reagan has been having a blast on her baby shower tour, so far.  I'm so glad. I know that she gets bored out of her mind sitting around our house all day.

I guess that there isn't much else to report for the moment. I was thinking maybe Gertrude, for a name. Is that cool babe? Only three to go.

March 26, 2007

Hello again, Not a whole lot to report today. I stayed home from work today. For some reason, when we got back from Boston last night, I felt like I was coming down with something. This morning, I had a full blown cold. Totally Sucked. I slept in until 3 in the afternoon. I was only awaken intermittently by Reagan who kept asking me to get up and entertain her, then reporting that she was going back over to Sarah's house.

Anyway, we spent the weekend with Tadd, Julie and family. It was really fun. We hadn't been  up there for so long. It was incredible to see how much the kids had grown up and everything. Tadd showed us a cool trick with mentos and diet coke. I'm going to have to get him to send me the pictures. We went to Zoë's school for a science fair, where Tadd and I built homemade flashlights for the kids, and eventually just tried to see how fast we could burn out the bulbs.

In the afternoon, Tadd and I took Sam and Gus to the pet store and bought some fish for their tank. It was pretty fun.

Saturday night it was snowing like crazy, but that didn't dim the spirits at all, being that we were all hopped up on sweetorade. That's right, we kept up the longstanding, time-honored tradition of loading up on sweetorade and playing monkey ball until the wee hours of the morning. We actually experimented with some new combos as well. Tadd and I tried out sweetstar. Which is a mixture of sweet tarts and rockstar. Pretty awesome compound if you ask me.

Sunday night, we took the car back to LI, had dinner at Moe's and hung out with Keith for a while. There was a huge fire in queens off of the Grand Central on the drive back. No better way to cap off a good weekend than seeing a huge structure fire while driving really fast.

March 21, 2007

Holeeeyyyy Moooolllleeeyy, I haven't even been blog-lazy, just impossibly busy. Addressing the important stuff first, still nothing definitive about Sleeky. Reag goes in for an MRI next week though. Not really sure what it will reveal (if anything).

Pepe is all fixed and legitimately papered now. To celebrate, I took a day off of work so that Reagan and I could go upstate and fight some tickets. I got the $500 one dropped. Yay. Still had to pay close to $300 though. Totally sux. It was worth the trip though.

We are planning on visiting our Boston homies this weekend. I really hope that it works out. I have been working so much lately that I can't really ever make definite plans. I am still getting settled in after my move from the 36th floor to the 30th. I didn't really have much prior notice. I decided that I really like it though.

I guess that the randomness of my work is sometimes entertaining though. Monday, for example. I got an email saying that the firm bought 2 extra seats for a benefit dinner auction/shindig at the Waldorf. It was really fun to get all dressed up with Reagan and watch people spend ridiculous amounts of cash on mediocre art. Plus, the Waldorf is always fun. Oh yeah, the prime minister of Canada was there, hahaha. I wanted to ask him if he liked strange brew.

You know that I can't blog without talking about the weather. Hahaha. We have had a few warm days that make me want to cry because I miss bumble so much. I get so jealous when I hear the moto guys in the evening. Hopefully We can get new motorcycles soon (moto for me, vespa for Reagy). Ok, so I guess that is all. Ciao for now.

March 5, 2007

Hola, mi gente. As usual, the passage of time brings more events. A couple of weeks ago, my friend Chris decided to start a band. I thought that it was pretty cool when I found out that he wanted me to play bass with them. Anyway, I practiced with them a few times over the past couple of weeks. Then this last weekend, we played a small gig with some other people at Chris' house on the upper-west side. The house is really cool. It actually belongs to our friend Mark's sister and her husband. It is a 5 story townhouse with 20 ft ceilings. Anyway, there was a really good turn out. Reagan and Mark took pictures for us. We had a really fun night.

Early Sunday morning, Reagan's friend Lacy flew in to visit. She came to church with us, then we spent the rest of the day just hanging out and laughing. It was really fun. They came down to Financial Center and had lunch with me today. I'm really glad that Lacy can be here to go to the doctor with Reagan tomorrow. Reagy had her first appointment with her new doc at Columbia last week. It wasn't good news. Poor lil' Sleeky has a lot a problems that they can already see. It is very difficult for Reagan and I not to take it hard, especially when we first get the news. What makes it especially frustrating is having to hear about it all by means of text message, knowing that Reag is at the doctor all alone, totally bummed out. So I'm glad that at least tomorrow she can have the support of her good friend.

This weekend we are going to go out to LI and finish fixing Pepe (the correct part came this time). Actually, I guess that I should open the box and verify that. Hahaha. Anyway, I have to do it by this weekend, because I'm taking next Tuesday off to drive upstate and fight all of the tickets that I got on MLK day. I'll let you know how all of that goes. Peace.

Happy President's Day. Reagan and I spent the day on Long Island. We had a lot of plans. Fix the car, go to the mall, go to Target, get the car inspected. Instead, we fixed the car. Or, I should say, I fixed the car. Reagan hung out and watched tv with Keith. It shouldn't have taken me as long as it did. But as usual, nothing went smoothly. I had to change one brake line. Unfortunately, it was on a caliper that the bleeder valve is stripped on, from the guys who changed the front bearings. So I bought a caliper on ebay and had it all painted and ready to go, for when I got to LI. I lugged all 50 lbs of it out there in a back pack and was looking forward to not having to lug it back. Well, when I got the other caliper all torn off and went to install the new one, It was the wrong side. The idiots sent me the wrong side! So I just tried to bleed it through the line and push the piston in, to have as little air as possible in there. Then I just put the old one back on. The brakes were pretty tight, so I guess it worked ok. Then I had to install an abs sensor on one of the rear wheels, messed up by a different guy, doing the rear bearings. So annoying. Anyway, I see now why he didn't bother taking it out when he did the bearing. The thing was practically welded in. It took me forever to get it out. I ended up destroying in and pulling out the pieces with needle nose pliers. Anyway, it means that I have to go out again next weekend to get it inspected. Sorry about all of the boring car fixing talk.

After all of that, we took the wrong freaking train from Penn, trying to get home, and didn't even notice until we were all the way into queens! Hahahah. It took us forever to get home. Reagy was getting pissed and had to piss too. We finally made it though.

Besides that, we had a really good weekend. Reagan and I both really like our ward. We have been meeting a lot of cool people. I guess I should go now. Latah.

Reagan and I have been in our new pad for over a week now. Sometimes I feel like Frank the tank, from old school. Only in the sense the we spent almost the entire day last Saturday at Home Depot, and didn't have enough time to make it to Bed Bath and Beyond. Thank goodness for that. We ended up spending double what we expected at Home Depot.

We were able to get a lot done over the rest of the weekend though. We installed a deadbolt, a new kitchen faucet, a toilet seat, blinds, curtains, hung up the TV, and painted the door. Unfortunately there is still a ton to do. Tonight I trimmed about an eighth of an inch of paint from our hall cabinet doors , so that they can shut.

Anyway, I'm sure that a lot of people have heard that our baby may have some problems. Reagan received a call from the doctor today with a preliminary report from her amneo-whateveritscalled, and the doctor is pretty sure at this point that Down's and Turner's syndrome can be ruled out. Even though nothing is conclusive yet. It was a huge load off of our minds.

The last week has been the most amazing of my life. I have no internet at home again, which means that I’m editing this with word, from my work computer and it will look like crap. Plus I don’t have a lot of time for details. But generally: Reagan and I were married a week ago in Vegas (pictures forthcoming), we found out that we are having a little girl, and we moved into a new place. More details soon. Muah!

I read about this really cool looking shark on MSN today. I know why, but I have always been fascinated by sharks. This one was particularly interesting and lives in the really deep water. It was called a frilled shark.

So freaking cool looking. Anyway, there is a lot going on with me right now. Reag and I were initially undecided about having people attend our wedding. But enough people expressed interest that we decided it would be cool. It is going to be in Vegas on Jan 31. Anyone who wants to show up, email me and I'll hit you back with the deets.

January 16, 2007

Yesterday was MLK day. I didn't have to work. That is normally a pretty cool thing. Some friends of mine and I decided to go upstate snowboarding. So we left Manhattan at like 6:30 in the morning. It was raining pretty much the whole way there, but we were hoping that it would turn to snow as we made our way north, and higher in elevation. Well, we were about 10 mins from the resort and I got pulled over. Got 3 tickets. Kinda bummed, but kept going. We made it to the resort. Still totally raining. Now we were really bummed. So we decided to just get some food and head home. My friend offered to drive back and give me a bit of a rest. To simplify the story, we got pulled over again on the way back and she got 3 tickets too. Unbelievable. The moral of the story: don't go outside on MLK day unless it is completely necessary.

January 13, 2007

Wow, almost a whole month. I'm not sure where to start. I haven't had cable at home for 2 weeks since one of my room mates moved out (the one who had the cable account). So I haven't been able to blog etc. I don't have frontpage on my computer at work. So, quite a bit has happened. When Matt moved out, it just so happened that my friend Chris was looking for a new place without much success, even though someone was going to be displacing him on Jan first. So he made that move on up to the heights. Last night his brother moved here also, from Indonesia (I think). So we have a full house at the moment.

In addition to all of those goings ons, Reagan and I have decided to get married. I'm going out to Utah, where she is currently living, at the end of the month. She has a doctor visit in Feb 1 at which the doctor will be able to determine the gender of the child. We are both super excited that I will be able to accompany her to that visit. When we get back to NY, we will have the task of finding a new place and moving. Not really looking forward to that much.

Oh yeah, I never even talked about Christmas or New Years. Christmas was pretty cool. I went up to CT and visited Jay and Christina. Ate some good food. Jay game me one of his old snow decks, since I blew an edge in Vermont. I just need to round up some Burton baseplates now. New Years, I didn't go out. I stayed in and talked to Reag for several hours and went to sleep. Which was totally fine.

So that is the quick and dirty version of what has been going on for that last month. Much love, Jake

December 16, 2006

It's almost 2007. Crazy, but cool. I can't really believe that this year has gone so quickly. I have been pretty busy over the last week. Work has picked back up into full swing for me. It is nice to be so busy again, but at the same time, this is the time of year that it would be nice to be able to take some time off and visit people who live far away. Anyway, Friday morning I woke up a little bit late, to a huge crashing noise. I was so startled. I looked around and saw that Napoleon was hiding behind the drift wood in the tank and that there was water all over the floor. He jumped so hard that it broke the hood of the tank. There was about a gallon of water on the floor and a gash about the size of a penny out of poor Napoleon's forehead. I was worried that he was going to die because he was acting so weird, and because of the size of the wound. He is doing pretty well again today though. Phew!

I talked to Julie Truscott for a second today. It was super nice to catch up with her for a sec. I guess that Zoey is getting baptized in Feb. I can't believe that she is 8. So crazy. She also told me that Taylor and Stacey are expecting. She thinks that Stacey is due in June (same as §leeky). Pretty exciting.

I got a Christmas package from my mom today. It was so nice of her. Even though I was about ready to shoot myself after the experience I had picking it up at the post office. I'm not really sure why anyone uses them anymore. Hahaha. PS, if anyone is shipping anything to me, please send it to my work office. There will always be someone there to sign for it (seldom the case at my house). Anyway, I opened up the package and I realized instantly what she had made for me. Anyone who knows anything about my mom knows that she is an amazing quilter. Well, when I was young (very young, early elementary school). I designed a quilt too. It was super rudimentary, and not super creative. But I remember that my mom thought it was cool and saved. Well, Hahahaha, she followed the schematic very well and I got that quilt for Christmas this year! I love my mom, she is the best. Anyway, I'm going to hop in the shower. Ttys

December 8, 2006

So it has been a pretty busy week. Monday they finally moved the old WWII aircraft carried, USS Intrepid to Jersey for renovations in dry dock. Which was pretty cool, because they dragged it right past my work. I got some pretty cool pictures of it. Tuesday night I went to a party at Rockerfeller Center for one of our search companies. It was insane. They rented out the restaurant there and the skating rink. It was totally fun. I took some pictures, but they were with my phone, so they turned out really dark. Then last night was my work party. It was the craziest private party that I have ever been to. I took a bunch of pics there too. I'm getting ready to go riding in VT this weekend. I'm kinda excited about it. First time of the season is always a killer. I have never been riding in VT though, so I'm curious to see how it it. I guess that it has been snowing there all week. Hopefully it will be fun. Latah

December 4, 2006

Well, once again Father Xmas has vomited his holiday garb all over this city. I'm really trying to be optimistic about this year. I have some options. Although, none of them are the one that I want. The same one that I want every year. The one that I plan for and even begin to believe will actually happen. The one that always falls apart right before Thanksgiving. Oh well. We do the best with what we have, right? Hahahaha.  Winter has finally officially showed up as well. When I was walking from the train this morning, there were actually some small snow flakes falling. Which was odd, because there were hardly any clouds. I bought a new phone and I get to pick it up tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it. It's another transformer like the old one I had (and have currently resurrected for a couple of weeks). Which makes total sense, now that I make so many phone calls and text so many people, hahahaha. I'm retarded. Jay, I hope you got your heater working man. We should switch houses. My room is like 9 million degrees right now. Kisses-

November 27, 2006

I had a fabulous Thanksgiving in Connecticut. Jay and Christina's Families cooked some amazing food, and we ate it. I drove up on Wednesday night after fetching Pepe from Long Island. I saw a fist fight almost break out on the train. It was more crowded that I had ever seen it. I made really good time getting up to the Varini's house. We just hung out and watched snowboarding vids on Wednesday night. Thursday morning Jay and I went to play some turkey bowl. It was totally freezing and pouring rain. We only lasted a couple of series, then went back for naps. In the afternoon, we ate lunch at Jay's parents' place. At night we had desert at Christina's parents' place. It was good times for all. Friday, Jay and Christina came back to NYC with me. We got dinner together and hung out. Sat morning, I took them to my work and stuff. We did all of the downtown stuff. It was a pretty good weekend. I didn't really take very many pics, but I'll post some later. Too tired right now. Piece.

November 19, 2006

Once again it has been one train wreck after another in this life of mine, hahahaha. Ok, well that is a bit extreme and dramatic, but you get the idea. I'm not going to be moving anymore. At least not any time soon. That is a huge relief. I was going through bootysmak yesterday and just decided that the joke wasn't really funny anymore. So much has changed since I started that site. Ridiculous. Plus I felt more and more that the people who looked at the site hadn't known me long enough to be privy to the bootysmak joke/nickname. So I decided to build a new site entirely. Well, I guess not entirely. This blog, for example is a carry-over. But, you know what I'm trying to say, right? Anyway, I guess that the train wreck part of this blog is going to have to remain as vague as it stands in the first line (to protect the innocent and not-so-innocent). So, I need to get back to building this site. The weekend is a wastin' Plus I just ordered from the Tex Mex/Chinese place, so I need to get cracking before the food shows up. You know the place, right Reag? Your fav, baby corn and carrot veggie burrito came from them. Yummy. Latah.

November 8, 2006

Here it is, November already. Kind of a lot has happened since I last wrote. I'm not really sure what I should say about it. Actually probably nothing for now. I'm going to be moving in the next couple of months though. Not really looking forward to that. I hate moving. Work is incredibly busy. From what the other people in my group tell me, it is always like this toward the end of the year. I guess that is good. Still not exactly what to do for Turkey day. I guess that Reagan's brother is going to be here, so we will have to factor him into the plans. Which could be cool. Jayson and Christina invited us to Hartford. I could always go for some of Jayson's mom's cooking (Christina's skills are outstanding as well). So that is the most probable option. Sorry that I don't have more to report at this juncture. Soon, soon. In the meantime, check out these adorable new pics of Maya showing off her new teeth.
